Twelve cars met at Penblewin Car Park on a bright sunny morning to start our first car run of 2025 . The run of around 46 miles was organised by Alf with Carol’s assistance and was a tour of North Pembrokeshire on mainly minor roads. We headed towards Maenclochog and we continued on the B4143 Fishguard road through Rosebush and New Inn before turning off for Cwm Gwaun and Pontfaen. Having crossed the stone bridge over the Afon Gwaun on the west edge of Pontfaen we turned north up a steep hill with a series of hairpin bends heading in the direction of Dinas and Newport. As the road levelled off we turned north westwards on the minor road to Dinas with long views to the west towards Fishguard and Goodwick. After crossing a cattle grid we had a stop in an informal car parking area below Dinas Mountain in order to “catch our breath” after the climb up the hairpin bends. From the parking area we had good views of Newport to the east. We re-joined the minor road to Dinas and started our descent from Dinas Mountain stopping at the viewpoint car park overlooking Fishguard Bay and Dinas Island. The steep road continued to Dinas Cross where we met the A487 Cardigan-Fishguard road and turned west on the A487 towards Fishguard and enjoyed a tea/coffee stop in the car park at Lower Town. Our route then took us into Main Street Fishguard before joining the B4313 to Llanychaer and passing through the village we turned west on a minor road which brought us to Trecwn. Dropping down through the village we passed the entrance to the former MOD site and continued south to Little Newcastle where we turned towards Puncheston. Passing The Drovers pub we turned towards Castlebythe and eventually joining the B4329 Haverfordwest-Cardigan road for a short distance we turned off to Walton East. The final leg of our route saw us passing through Clarbeston Road and Wiston before joining the A40 at Slebech. We now had a short distance to travel to Robeston Wathen and The Bush Inn where a very welcome and enjoyable Sunday lunch awaited us. ... See MoreSee Less
